The following Rock Creek Fishing Report is brought to you by the Rock Creek Mercantile.
Sept 31st - Thanks to everyone who came out for the memorial, it was great to see everybody and see so much support.
The past few days have been very cold for the time of year, and the fish don't seem to be overly active as a result. Stick to mornings and evenings if you plan on going out. I have seen the first few signs of the Baetis; they tend to thrive in this overcast, rainy weather. Nymphs and streamers are probably going to be the best bet in the middle of the day, and the upper stretches are fishing better than the lower section. That's going to change as soon as the big brown trout start spawning up from the Clark Fork, but that is likely a couple weeks away.
Orange and olive will become more and more predominant as we move into September. According to the weather report, things should start to warm up again by Thursday or Friday, so hopefully the fishing will pick up with the warmer temperatures at that time. More in a day or two... |
