A classic freestone river in one of the most beautiful settings on earth. The Creek cuts it's way through narrow canyon walls and big timber stands until it empties in the upper Clark Fork twenty-four miles east of Missoula. Its Blue Ribbon water and prolific hatches have gained notoriety throughout the angling world. Undoubtedly, Rock Creek is an angler's best chance to catch Western Montana's Grand Slam; Rainbows, Browns, Cut Throats, and Brook Trout all in a day.
March-April-Skwalas and Grey Drakes are the first bugs to hit lower Rock Creek. This is a great time of the year, before the rush of the summer hits. We just make sure that we fish on the warmer days, the Creek still can be pretty chilly.
June-July- Salmonflies and Goldenstones, this is the best time of the year to be on Rock Creek. Big bug bonanza that is just nonstop action all day long.
August- Hoppers replace the stones and the boating season is over, Rock Creek turns to late summer conditions very well. River wide you can fish a hopper from dawn till dusk.
September-October- BWOs and Mahoganies will finish up the season on the Creek. Again a great time of the year. Crowds have subsided and we can usually find a section of river all to ourselves up here.
