Dry Fly Fishing Specialists!
Well people, we are back into our winter weather mode. With the cooler temps and snow, the fishing we did have will likely be stunted for a few days. Looks like Friday things will warm up a bit and we can get back into the swing of things. Remember folks, its still a bit early out there, the best is yet to come. Stay tuned.

With the recent dip in temps and a bit of snow, the Blackfoot is put on hold for a few days or so til things warm up a bit. If you do find yourself up there try fishing double nymph rigs is your best bet. Try fishing double nymph rigs with Girddle bugs and San Juan Worms. There are better options out there, but if your looking to get away from crowds, this is a good choice. And you just might tie into a BIG ONE!

This one is on hold until we get warmer weather......Stay Tuned!
The Clarkfork is warming up a bit. Have had reports of decent fishing on the Clarkfork, both the upper and lower stretches. It is stilll mostly a nymphing game, but there is a dry fly window. The size of the window varies from day to day, but generally opens up for an hour or two during the heat of the day. Stonefly nymphs, and worms are the bugs of choice for your subsurface action. On top, fish can be caught on midges and a variety of attractors. Skwalas usually start hatching on this river in mid April!

This fishing report is brought to you by The Rock Creek Mercatile located on the banks of Rock Cr. Stop on by and say hello to Caroline and Doug!
March 8 - I spaced out yesterday and totally forgot the report. It didn't matter much because yesterday was a carbon copy of Saturday. Today, however, at least the weather is changing. we're supposed to get some precipitation. Nobody is saying for sure whether it's going to be rain or snow so lets hope for a good snowfall. The Rock Creek fish are still hitting big dark nymphs dead drifted on the bottom. Up into Saturday we were even getting one or two anglers into the shop every day buying flies. But I suppose that this spell of cooler weather and rain or snow will send us back into total hibernation. Oh well, such is the world of fly shops in early spring. More tomorrow.
It's become obvious that our current economy is playing hell on the small retail businesses. Shops like mine are hurting in most parts of the country. So support your local fly shop. It's been there for you, now be there for it. Thanks for your time!

The following Fishing Report is provided by Mark and John at Headhunters Fly Shop in Craig.
FISHING REPORT
It doesn’t seem like it… warm temps, active fish, risers, and plenty of dudes around. Most of the Headhunters staff and guides were on the river today, and all had good fishing. Midge activity was intense, and when the wind stayed down risers were pretty easy to find. Midges were clustering this morning, and it was easy to pick up fish keying on them. Streamers worked well for Arnold and Heckert in the Canyon. Lots of Browns looking to eat. We didn’t nymph… why would you with all the rising fish?
The river remains low and clear. The weather is warm and clouds are in the forecast.. Headhunters is now open 7 days a week if you need shuttles, flies, tippet, free coffee or whatever.
