Spring weather is here 73* in Hamilton yesterday, 70* in Florence. More of the same on tap for today. Lots of fish looking up yesterday and a solid showing of bugs on the water given the sun. Don’t miss a chance to get out there and catch a few before run-off hits. There have been [...]
The weather was beautiful yesterday-Hamilton topped out at 73 degrees, Florence 70. Sunny skies had people out and the fish were looking up. Ameletus, Bwo,and Skwala still making a strong showing.
The Easter Bunny has hidden some big trout in the Bitterroot, better get out there and find them. Yesterday was slow, but we had a few big fish eat. Video of Rod Kerley’s big brown coming soon. Shop closes early today for us to spend some time with our families. Sun is shining and temps [...]
Chris K. from Game Trails taxidermy in Florence yanked a few fish on top yesterday in between snow flurries below Stevensville. It’s always neat to see nice fish eat a big bug on the surface in this kind of weather. We actually saw a few adult Skwallas wandering around dodging the flakes making it a [...]
Here is what we do around the shop when we aren’t on the water. Cut foam, cut fish, drink beer…..oh, and tie bugs. Ross Hodek behind the Vise and Yellowtail Sashimi.
Here is six year old Joe Beckman with a CuttBow he caught on a Beadhead Prince. Joe fished with his dad Adam and had a blast. The weatherman was wrong again, and the sun was shining. Might want to bring a shovel with you today based on the forecast. Snow is falling at the shop [...]

Yesterdays predicted “high of 38″ and “snow” again turned into a beautiful spring day, keeping people huddled in their homes instead of enjoying what most likely will be a decent “Skwala” dry fly afternoon !! I really would [...]
There are plenty of bugs on the Mid-river right now, and with the dropping water levels we are seeing more rising fish. Don’t miss fishing these spring windows for potential to raise a Bitterroot Monster. Skwala, blue wing, and Ameletus patterns will cover all the bases. Here is guide Nick Stipech with a nice Rainbow.
Despite the high flows the fish are still eating. Water clarity should improve rapidly with the dropping water levels. Look to the soft water and stay close to the wood.
The river is dropping and should fish well this week. Here is a Bitterroot double from this week.
