The entire river is fishing well right now and there are plenty of bugs out there to keep the fish interested. The river is half of what it was five days ago and that is just the kind of drop we have been waiting for to get the dry fly action going. Goldens, Bitterroot Stones, [...]

The wind was relentless yesterday, and the driving rain stung almost as much as the sandstorms at the takeout. The brutal weather would not be enough to stop Tim Rodgers (and his daughter) from catching a bunch of fish on his new Sweetgrass Bamboo rod. The power was out at the shop yesterday due to [...]

Jada decided to try an alternative spot since the Bitterroot was still on the high side and it seemed to pay off!! If she’s not chasing big whitetails or rollin’ turkeys, she gets out her pink Ross set-up and slays the big rainbows ! The Bitterroot only dropped 50cfs overnight with the warm weather yesterday [...]

The Bitterroot returned to “Rollar Coaster” mode over the last couple of days with the hot weather and will hopefully straighten out on the graff soon. The West Fork continues to drop(450 cfs today) and is fishing O.K. although the fish seem to be full from eating big bugs for a couple of weeks. The main [...]

The river is up, in fact all of them are. They are still fishing, just not as well as we hoped it would. The bumps in the charts and the full sun have slowed the dry fly action compared to the overcast days. There are plenty of bugs out there including: Salmon Flies, Golden Stones, [...]

The big bugs are out everywhere and the dropping flows have them on the feed. Last chance to hit the water before the weekend crowds get there. Big Orange Ones, Gold Belly Jobs, and little sailboat looking things out there. Just go fishing.

The two things that always signal the arrival of summer to me are the Salmon Flies and the Cottonwood Fuzz. The Blackfoot is fishing great right now with loads of adult Salmon Flies on the water, there are still some big bugs buzzing the upper Bitterroot as well. Mixed in with the big bugs you [...]

Looks like the first day of summer is living up to what it should be. 70′s today and 80′s tomorrow will bring some great action on the upper ‘Root with more Salmon flies, Goldens and maybe a few Drakes. Yesterday even fished well in the unstable weather, so the next few days should really produce, with [...]

The title says it all. Doesn’t matter where you were you worked for them today. Lots of Salmon Flies on the upper Blackfoot and upper Bitterroot, Goldens and Drakes filling in the gaps. The Upper Blackfoot saw Salmon fly gang bangs washing down the river, mostly unnoticed. Top producers have once again been the rubber [...]

We’re not going to let a few showers stand in our way today! The Bitterroot is still on the drop and fishing well up on the forks and the upper main stem on Salmon Fly dries, Green Drakes and Goldens. The cloud cover should really improve fishing over the next few overcast days. These little shots [...]
