Fishing was great on the Missouri the last few days. Lots of trout eating dries (BWO’s) in the soft water, and plenty of fish if you wanted to nymph the deep stuff. We even came home with a few walleye fillets for a parking lot fish fry this may. Stay posted for details. Here are [...]
The river is big, real big. Trees are zipping by at full speed scouring the banks and bottom getting the river cleaned up for summer. If we get this snow out of here quick we could see an epic June. In the meantime we are hosting a fly tiers round table at the shop starting [...]
Yoo-Hoo is the flavor of the day on the Bitterroot….Looks like chocolate milk, but isn’t. The river has blown out with the warm temps and sunny skies. Rain is in the forecast for the week, so the snow should go fast. We are looking forward to an epic June, don’t miss this one…..Stay tuned for [...]
Dan Greer caught this dandy brown on the lower river last week. Another great spring fish Dan!
Flows jumped a bunch overnight and it looks like things will only get bigger in the next few days. Hot days and warm nights will undoubtedly melt some snow. In the meantime get to the bench and tie a few foam bugs and worms for when the water finally drops. Tying “round table” starts May [...]
The rivers are rising fast and fishing is falling off. We will see what the next few days of warm weather do to the snow pack. Be ready to fish again once flows stabilize.
Here is Kira with her first fish from the great sandbar in the south…..A catfish. We were hoping for a Ladyfish (so we could see some jumps), but it is hard to be picky when you aren’t even two yet. It was a great time and we caught all kinds of fish together.
The Bitterroot is still up for a day or two so everyone hit the turkey opener. Jada Hunsucker and her dad Brent decided to chase the wiley toms and scored big time !! Nice shootin’ Jada !! Back to the river in a day or two. Lots of Mayflies (Amelitus) starting to show !!
Chase and Rod Kerley hammered ‘em with seasoned guide Nick Stipech on Tuesday ending their 3 day romp on the Bitterroot. Both Chase and his dad caught a fish over 20″ and numerous others on the lower river, all on dries, just before we got a bump in the water from the high 70 temps! [...]
Spring weather is here 73* in Hamilton yesterday, 70* in Florence. More of the same on tap for today. Lots of fish looking up yesterday and a solid showing of bugs on the water given the sun. Don’t miss a chance to get out there and catch a few before run-off hits. There have been [...]
